On November 14th and 15th a Community Planning Session, or Charrette was held at Lincoln Multicultural Middle School. It was sponsored by the Development Corporation of Columbia Heights (DCCH), the D.C. Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) (AIA) and DC's Department of Housing and Urban Development. The purpose was to allow citizen imput on development of the public parcels around the new subway stop.

The development parcels are pictured on the right. All the parcels are publicly owned with the exception of parcel 27 which is partially privately owned. For the details of the parcels click here.The yellow "M" on parcel 26 will be the location of the subway entrance and exit. Parcel 29 is the location of the Tivoli Theater which runs along 14th St. For an enlarged picture (100K)  click here.

The work of AIA has been completed and they have issued their report. A synopsis of their report can be found on these pages.

  1. A Title Page of the main organizations and individuals responsible for the Charrett
  2. A summary of General Development Preferences expressed by the Community.
  3. A list of Development Controls to ensure the Community's preferences will be followed.
  4. An Overall Concept of the project.
  5. Two more specific plans that demonstrate the Overall Concept and Community preferences.
  6. A drawing of the Visual Character of the proposed development.
